  One star is far too generous for this review...I need to get my allergy shots twice a week every week for 3 months without missing a beat, otherwise the very expensive shots are not effective. But when I walked into Burnside Medical Clinic this morning, I was told that Dr. Catherine Sears will not see me because "getting allergy shots is too dangerous of a procedure, and because she has never seen you (me) before, she cannot take on the responsibility if I get a reaction". First of all, isn't that the point of a walk in clinic? To take random patients in for general medical stuff, like an allergy injection? Secondly, if you're a trained doctor, aren't you supposed to have the skill-set and tools to care for someone in the off chance that there is a reaction to an allergy shot? To simply say, we cannot take you because the doctor has never seen you before, at a walk-in clinic mind you, is a complete and utter disgrace to an already archaic medical system that this province and politicians have somehow deemed acceptable. Shame on you Dr. Catherine Sears for taking the easy way out, and shame on you Island Health for allowing this sort of lackadaisical medical care to happen without recourse. And I pay $150 a month out of pocket and still have no medical doctor after over a year of being in this province??? BTW, I am writing this from my 3rd walk-in clinic visit in one morning and just saw a doctor at the 3rd clinic for the first time. After finally getting my shot this morning, I mentioned the above to the doctor and he said the only reason a doctor should have the right to refuse someone for an allergy shot is if the clinic didn't have an adrenaline shot on hand, which would be pretty rare. Unfortunately, this was not the acceptable reason I was given this morning, so I'm now pressing "Post" on this review. Stay clear of this clinic!
